Axkid Connect was designed to ensure children's well-being by alerting parents when a child is overheated or abandoned in their car. The product is a unique safety pad connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth Low Energy. Since October 2020, the Swedish car-seats company Axkid has commercialized the pad as a separate add-on to existing child seats.
The connect is compatible with a wide range of carseat brands.

VALUE
Heatstroke in cars is unfortunately far more common than one would wish, and every year incidents occur where children become overheated due to being left unattended in hot vehicles. Axkid Connect is a unique product designed to minimize the risk of human error, save lives and protect children from hyperthermia, heatstroke, and abandonment.

What is a plus-test?
In order for a car seat to be sold, it must undergo several mandatory safety tests in
accordance with current regulations (UNECE R44 & R129). The Plus Test, on the other hand,
is a voluntary test that places even higher demands on the safety of the car seat. The Plus
Test consists of a much tougher collision at the same time as it also places demands on the
forces that the child's neck is exposed to in a frontal collision. This means that a seat that
has passed both the mandatory tests and the plus test gives your child extra security.
The extra safety is mainly based on the extreme stresses to which the car seat is exposed to
during a plus-test. In comparison with the mandatory tests, a plus-test means:
• Higher crash speed - In the Plus-Test, a higher speed is used, which causes higher
crash violence, which in turn means greater load on the car seat and the crash-doll.
• Shorter braking - In the Plus Test, the braking distance is also shorter, which also
causes greater collision violence. In combination with the higher speed, the resulting
load on the chair and crash doll will be considerably higher than in the mandatory
tests.
• Neck sensors - The Plus-Test sets requirements of the load on the crash doll's neck
and it is carefully measured during the crash, so that the neck forces are not too
high. A vital parameter that is currently not included in the mandatory tests.
The Plus Test is simply developed to make the choice of car seat easier by clearly showing
which seats are extra safe for your child.
Axkid ONE is Axkid's latest car seat to be approved in the Plus Test, and also the first car seat
with ISOFIX in the world with the marking 125cm. This means that the car seat is Plus Tested
and approved up to 125cm, which provides great opportunities to extend the rear-facing
period and your child's safety.
All of Axkid's rear - facing car seats are Plus Tested, which we are very proud of. Child safety
is our highest priority!!!!

- isofix versus seatbelt installation

isofix is not safer than a proper seatbelt installation. It may reduce the chance of error when installing the seat – incorrect installation isn’t safe. This is why some brands will tell you that isofix is safer.

isofix has its limitations, which (barring the Axkid ONE & ONE+) includes limiting the weight the harness can hold to 18kg. As we know, extended rear facing is the safest way to travel, and the seats that allow true harnessed extended rear facing (to 25kg) are therefore seatbelt-installed.

Once your extended rear facing car seat is properly installed with the seatbelt, lower tethers and support leg, the installation is more secure than any isofix installation.

- What is a booster seat?

https://bit.ly/CSFSboosterready

A booster seat is the final seat your child will need from age 5 to around 12 years old. A safe booster seat has a full back and adjustable headrest to protect the developing body from the extreme forces of a crash and special guides to keep the vehicle seatbelt in the correct position. A booster seat does not have a harness and the cushions, fold-ups and seatbelt positioners without side impact protection of a back- and headrest is NOT a safe alternative.

The vehicle seatbelt is designed to evenly distribute the forces of a crash across the strongest points of an adult male body of 1.5m or taller. The strongest points of that fully developed adult body are the shoulder and chest and the lap or pelvis.

On a child under 1.5m tall, the seat belt sits across the vulnerable and undeveloped neck and throat and across the unprotected belly and major organs.

- What is the Swedish Plus Test?

The Swedish Plus test is the strictest crash test in the world. The goal is that Plus tested car seats will ensure that your child is not exposed to life-threatening neck loads during a frontal collision.

What makes the Plus test such an extremely tough test to pass?

> It is done at higher speeds when compared to the European standards ECER44 and R129/i-Size.

> They use a shorter braking distance, which makes the impact on the car seat brutal - the shorter the braking distance, the more violent the forces become.

> It is the only test that measures the forces in the crash test dummy’s neck with sensors. Forward-facing car seats cannot pass this test, because the forces on the neck are too high.

- Harness and headrest height

When using a 5-point harness and a seatbelt, where the belt comes out of the back of the seat and over your child’s shoulder is critical. The positioning ensures that the harness/seatbelt can distribute the crash force evenly across their body.

> When rear facing, the harness should come out at or just below the shoulder.
> When forward facing, as with the seatbelt and the full-back seatbelt-positioning booster, it should be at or just above the shoulder.

The positioning of the headrest is also critical to keeping your chid's neck and head safe. The top of your child's ear should remain below the top of the headrest. A headrest that is set too high will not provide sufficient protection for the delicate neck.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Axkid Modukid, Axkid Minikid and Axkid Rekid have a completely innovative auto-adjusting harness and headrest to ensure they are always in the safest position.

https://bit.ly/AxkidModTod

The award winning Swedish Plus Tested Axkid Modukid Toddler seat is the only i–Size seat on the market with an auto-adjusting headrest, allowing you to ensure the harness is always at the correct height for your growing little one - at or just below the shoulder when rear facing. The seat is spacious and has a long shell, which keeps your little one comfortable right up to 18kg or 105cm. Even so, the seat is compact and doesn’t need too much space inside your car.

It is an exclusively rear facing seat that can only be used with the Axkid Modukid isofix base. It is part of Axkid’s modular system, which means it shares a base with the Axkid Modukid Infant seat. The smart base has 6 adjustable legroom settings (unmatched among isofix seats), which means you can choose a compact setting when your child is small and extend the legroom as they grow.

- Do I really need an infant seat?

Yes! Your baby needs to be in an infant seat from birth until 13kgs or 75cm (car seat dependent), usually around age 1. The design of an infant seat is very specific and every newborn needs to be in one until at least 6 months old or when they can sit unassisted.

In a toddler seat, there is the risk of your baby's heavy head falling forward and closing their airway. When they can sit unassisted for extended periods of time, their core strength is developed enough to allow them to move themselves out of dangerous positions. This makes using an infant seat critical in keeping your baby as safe as they can be.
