Queens, I’m digging this book and had to share.

It is about the spirit and relationship with intimacy based on ancient West African practices.

What I’ve been stuck with (these are my reflection, not the authors) is the idea that so many of us walk around without confident foundation and it’s because we don’t know how to acknowledge and adhere to the wisdom of our ancestors (and elders).

This isn’t about doing things the way they did, this is about seeing and seeking your ancestors and having inward confidence that they are carrying you in every moment - from the tree rustle when you walk by to the river that flows at your feet.

Your doubts and fears can be carried by them. With someone else shouldering some of the burden, couldn’t we walk in our authority more?

I’m not done reading yet but I just had to share.

Been quiet but actively doing the work to remain at the dualities of grounded and operating at a high vibration.

As a special tribute to Mother’s Day, I doubled the waistbead length to make a special Mother/Daughter strand. This pair can be can cut anywhere along the beads as remembrance of the continuous connection that threads the two together. It’s a reminder that the daughter picks up where the mother left off.

As you all know, this is a hobby for me. I love making waistbeads to adorn your body - for health, wealth, or beauty.

I’ve also loved making other forms of jewelry (that I’ll likely not sell).

This past weekend I had a private lesson on the practice of making a Mala Prayer Necklace. The process is VERY different then making waistbeads. It took me 3.5 hours to make this one piece. I even made the tassel.

108 beads.
108 prayers.
108 moments of gratitude.

I come to also share this: find a hobby. Find something besides work and family that you can do. That is the ultimate self care. Your sanity depends on it.

And so it is.
